We setup a Configuration Management infrastructure using CFEngine to remotely manage over 5000 servers spread across 4 different continents for our client - a multinational oil and gas company with data centers spread around the globe.
We were able to drastically reduce the turnaround time required for provisioning a new physical or virtual server from 5 days to 15 minutes. This significantly increased productivity and saved millions of dollars in wasted man-hours and value creation. With our focus on Infrastructure as Code, we ensured all the configurations were version controlled in private git repository.
We setup a complete continuous integration/continuous delivery infrastructure to manage the deployment of 40 custom applications to over 500 physical and virtual servers; the supported applications written in C++, C#, Python, and R. We implemented the architecture using SaltStack, Python, Gerrit, Jenkins, Git and Nagios. We created custom deployment code to help manage deployment, monitor deployments and alert on deployment failures.
We completed this project ahead of schedule, saving our client thousands of dollars from expensive missed opportunities at various exchanges.
We provided DevOps services to the Department of Homeland Security. We created a platform written in ruby, to support the full Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment of applications, all the way to production, allowing multiple deployments a day. Using Chef as the configuration management tool and AWS as the cloud provider, we setup the applications as microservices using Docker.
Using the best DevOps practices, we ensured infrastructure as code and setup Dashboards to view applications and deployment metrics using Sinatra. This all supported microservices written in Ruby on Rails, NodeJS and Java. We encrypted deployment parameter stores and server-side encrypted S3 buckets to manage deployment secrets. As part of the microservice infrastructure, we utilized AWS Cloudformation, RDS, LoadBalancers, AutoScaling Groups, TargetGroups, DynamoDB and pre-built AMIs.
We developed a python-based application to automate the delivery of tanks used on the production floors. The plant experienced problems locating tanks required to move liquids products in bulk to the packaging area. Our application tagged each tank and tracked its movement and location. We also added a feature to automatically request a new tank whenever a product was ready for packaging. We setup CI/CD platform which is hosted in an in-house data center. Finally, we provided on-site training for proper application management and deployment..
